peofeoknight | I hate the united states elite media. I hate the major networks, they think they can just dictate what is and what is not news. Scott Peterson is on trial for killing is wife who was pregnant, BFD. How come this trial got coverage, but not the more important stuff? Why isn't the Ukraine election being covered more? Why isn't the UN oil for food scandal being covered more? I hate this is if did not happen right in the united states then it is not news attitude of our media. Also how they can just dwell over something that will get ratings. I do not think this trial, OJ Simpson, the hurricanes (though they sucked, I lost my power for 5 days because of one), wildfires out west, and a lot of the other stuff that gets a lot of coverage deserves it. Why were the networks covering the hurricanes so much while there was a school massacre going on in Russia? I am sick of it. | December 14, 2004, 3:20 AM |
DOOM | I've heard quite a bit about Ukraine and the UN scandal both on the news. Local news is going to get reported more anyway. (Local in the sense that this country's news is more local than that going on on the other side of the world) | December 14, 2004, 3:59 AM |
Hitmen | In general, people in this country couldn't give less of a shit what is happening in other parts of the world. Stories pertaining to the US are going to get them higher ratings, and in the end, that is all they're really after. | December 14, 2004, 4:17 AM |
Mephisto | What can you do? Btw, I think this trial got a lot of coverage because of the account of murder to his unborn son which I don't think anyone else has ever been chaged for. | December 14, 2004, 4:44 AM |

[/quote] Nobody has ever gotten first degree murder for the death of an unborn. They generally get manslaughter. | December 14, 2004, 11:49 AM |

It doesn't matter, it's still a harsher charge. Semi-off topic: Jurors recommend he pay with his life, according to the Virginian Pilot. | December 14, 2004, 8:16 PM |
peofeoknight | He is still got death for his wife... conor or no conor. I still do not care though! Anerican media has this elitist quality to it that is when it does not happen here it is not news. | December 14, 2004, 9:22 PM |

Many people care about it and many have followed the court case. I could care less about what's going on in other parts of the world (unless it's something crazy like a nuclear bombs going off) and I'd much rather know what's going on in my own backyard. Besides, there are alternative new mediums, pick up and move on. | December 16, 2004, 2:33 AM |
hismajesty | That's why other countries consider us to be so darn arrogant. We frankly don't care about anybody else in the world except ourselves. I like being in the know on both homeland stuff and stuff from overseas. | December 16, 2004, 2:57 AM |

I think what really pisses them off is when we go over there and try to fix things. | December 16, 2004, 3:12 AM |
