iago | Xmms is better anyway :) Actually, they're the exact same, but who's counting? | November 11, 2004, 4:57 PM |
Hitmen | Well, I've been using 2.91 for quite a long time, so I can't say I care much. Anything put out since then is just meh. | November 11, 2004, 10:35 PM |
hismajesty | I finally upgraded from 2.91 to the newest version (5?) yesterday. I can't say that I'm that impressed or that I notice anything different. | November 11, 2004, 10:58 PM |
iago | That's true, I still use 2.91 on Windows. The only difference I know of in an exploit in older versions' skin handlers. | November 12, 2004, 12:09 AM |
hismajesty | Yeah, I got tired of the security warning message box coming up so I updated. :P | November 12, 2004, 12:21 AM |
Hitmen | I just told it to shut up. | November 12, 2004, 1:03 AM |
peofeoknight | I am sad winamp is gone :-[. I use XMMS on linux, I didn't know it could work on windows, but I knew winamp couldnt work on linux. | November 12, 2004, 3:24 AM |
iago | I'm pretty sure XMMS has been ported. All major opensource programs tend to be multiplatform. | November 12, 2004, 1:27 PM |
hismajesty | I don't think so iago, I've looked for a port before with no luck. | November 12, 2004, 2:15 PM |
Well, I'm using the Pro edition, I like the fact that it's so easy to burn CDs and rip CDs straight into mp3 format, aswell the burning process is alot smoother compared to Nero, on my computer anyway. The Beat visualization is something neat to look at too. :) | November 12, 2004, 3:37 PM |
Trance | Xmms doesn't support NSV I think. That's the only real difference... too bad if true, lots of good stuff there. :P *shameless plug* can even see live DJ's... :P | November 14, 2004, 11:43 AM |

iago | Dunno what NSV is, but I know that Xmms can listen to Shoutcast. | November 14, 2004, 8:05 PM |
xmms is not even remotely close to being better than Winamp. It's just a clone of a terribly old version with added bugs. | November 15, 2004, 3:20 AM |
iago | The terribly old versions are better than the new versions (bloating sucks). And Winamp doesn't run well on Linux (it runs quite nicely under Wine, but that's besides the point). | November 15, 2004, 4:06 AM |

There are some bloating issues such as video playback and cd burning, but besides that it is definitely superior to xmms. I like Amarok personally. | November 15, 2004, 4:37 AM |

idoL | Ok so it is ending its run as a program, aslong as they fix all known bugs it's not a biggie. | November 16, 2004, 8:33 PM |
Purdue. I actually spent a bit of time tracking down the account running your current shoutcast server with UserLoser, but it wasn't anybody that I knew personally. Anyways, you might want to reconsider running it from shay. | November 17, 2004, 7:20 PM |
Trance | Ah, I don't run it, I just DJ for the station.. Will let them know though. | November 17, 2004, 10:29 PM |
