Before I google, has anyone run across a solution for putting controls on the Windows taskbar?  It looks like a CoolBar control containing buttons with an icon and text (title of task) on each.  I see no reason why I couldn't load my own control onto the taskbar (or even the quick launch bar).  The idea is to have a status panel showing all the mapped drives status (green: online; red: offline), and other resources.

Wouldn't it be better to make your own dockable toolbar?

I tried that a few months ago to display caller id information on my taskbar.  They're "band objects."
