I have been putting some thought into a turn based strat/rpg, its mostly ideas on written up on paper though. | September 22, 2004, 8:46 PM |
St0rm.iD | starcraft clone basically. we should probably write in a language which - is easy to learn to allow a large developer pool - has a graphics/sound/input/networking library - fast development my vote is obviously python, but i can learn anything. no lisp plz. | September 22, 2004, 11:55 PM |
C# :) If we go 2-d, System.Drawing is fine. If we want 3-d, Managed DX9 is fine too. | September 22, 2004, 11:56 PM |
St0rm.iD | 2d. We could use 3d models rendered in 2d, though. A 3d game simply won't happen. | September 22, 2004, 11:59 PM |
Kp |
starcraft clone basically.
but the real question is, will it cleanly interoperate with real Starcraft? ;) | September 23, 2004, 1:27 AM |
St0rm.iD | blah, stop being naive kp :) | September 23, 2004, 1:35 AM |

The-Rabid-Lord | Im not sure I would be an accet with the programming as I dont want to learn a new language while learning Pascal at college but I would like to help manage it with support and geting people motivated and organisation(thats what im good at), so yeah, cool! | September 23, 2004, 3:13 PM |
Adron |
starcraft clone basically.
There are just toooo many games like that already. | September 23, 2004, 4:17 PM |
So don't learn a language. Be an OOP designer or something. Draw us pictures. ;) | September 23, 2004, 4:36 PM |
The-Rabid-Lord | I could I supose, depends the kind of qualtiy you need. As I said im good at organisation and I CAN get people to work :D I really want to be part of it though, I dont want to be left out. | September 23, 2004, 4:57 PM |
St0rm.iD | I think a game would be the most fun, but of course there's other stuff we could do. | September 24, 2004, 2:30 AM |
drivehappy | I wouldn't mind helping out, I know a fair amount of C#. | September 24, 2004, 2:31 AM |
Mitosis | I could draw some pics to help, too if you wanted. | October 10, 2004, 2:11 PM |
K |
I could masturbate while you guys make a game.
I think I can do that for myself, thanks! | October 12, 2004, 1:43 AM |
TheMinistered | I think the language of choice, for a communtity project on this forum, would have to be Visual Basic 6.0. Why? Because the majority of the users on here know that language! Perhaps the language itself wouldn't be able to handle a game, but there are plenty of 3d engines outthere designed for that language. The one I would have the highest hopes for is TrueVision3D. | October 23, 2004, 7:10 PM |

Brandon |
I delegate you as the new leader of the project
Way to stay commited. :-\ | October 24, 2004, 5:11 AM |
ctype | I wouldn't mind helping out either. I know a fair bit of C++, so i'll look into graphics libs and the like. I suppose OpenGL Is outta the question?? (Not that I know any) | October 24, 2004, 12:04 PM |
Myndfyr | I'm pretty sure we've moved on from the original idea.... | October 24, 2004, 11:32 PM |
