Officials are quite confident the "time-traveler's" claims are bogus. Yet the SEC source admits, "No one can find any record of any Andrew Carlssin existing anywhere before December 2002."
HAHA | March 28, 2003, 1:46 AM |
iago | Wait, why didn't he know he was going to be caught if he's from the future? :( | March 28, 2003, 3:01 AM |
Yoni | If he was from the future, maybe he wouldn't have existed in his past, since he didn't travel yet. (If he returned to the future afterwards, he would then exist in the past, maybe?) Sorry if the above sentence has too many meanings. The only way to express this unambiguously is using grammatical time tenses that do not exist in the English language, as described in Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. But my copy of this book is at a friend's so I can't look it up. :( Btw, if he introduced even a tiny change to the stock market, it would probably affect so many variables that would cause unforseen future effects to the stock market (see also - the movie Pi). So even if he did know the best stocks from the future's point of view, he would probably "win" on the first few "bets", but then lose repeatedly. From a practical point of view, he's a damn liar. :) | March 28, 2003, 4:53 AM |
Grok | Haha, come on guys. It's "Weekly World News", a supermarket checkout-idle tabloid. | March 28, 2003, 7:15 AM |
iago |
idle
aisle* I love reading the headlines on Weekly World News, they always sound so funny, although lately it's been getting a little redundant, since it's not surprising when you see, "alien porn broadcasted to some family's trailor" along with a picture of mullet-wearing trailor trash. | March 28, 2003, 3:56 PM |
