What the hell are you waiting for? Go make some now!

I will as soon as I'm done recovering what I just accidentally deleted (should only be 2-3 hours).

I tried that before, but Windows gets bitchy that you're playing with files you shouldn't be. I had no problem dong that on Linux, though :/

I have all of my media and a lot of installers on my d drive. All the important stuff goes there basically. Like I copy over inetpub there after any big project. This allows me to reinstall painlessly. I just reinstall windows, then run a few installers that I already have, and I am all set.

Due to controversy, I do not guarantee that the operating system is installed on C:. Is my joke flawless yet?

Recovery complete. I underestimated the time, though. 4:12 AM -> 7:57 AM == 3.5 hours + minor delays.

Seriously, make backups.
You can't fit crap on that. Why not just get another hard drive for backups, like a 20gig, you can get those for cheap. Just put it in your system as like e: or something. Or get a usb hard drive.

But. e is already my cdrom drive!

If both drives are ntfs, you can mount it in a folder. So C:\backup could actually be on a different disk, kinda like Linux does.
But those sticks are pricy. You could get a second hard drive for less which was what I was going for. I think those little flash mem sticks are a rip. If I need to move files or back stuff up I would just use my mp3 player. I have a 40gig nomad that I am trying to fill with music. So far I have 15gb of metal.

$50 for a 256mb flash memory stick isn't bad at all, I would recommend getting one they're pretty useful and relatively inexpensive.

I got my 512mb usb thumbdrive at like, $100.

It's a good deal. :)
If you are only using them to backup data thats a bunch, because if you use a disk you will get more space and more bang for your buck. I am not saying flash memory is bad, I have a flash memory key chain which is great for moving files from the school comp lab to home. But If you just need a backup for your home pc (in a server you would have an array idealy (in the business world atleast)), I would get a small hard drive. You can hold more and its cheaper (relatively speaking, though depending on the specs of the drive it may in fact be less then 50 bucks). Thats just how I see it.

I thought about that after I posted, for permanent backups of harddrives it is probably better to get a whole spare harddrive.
