Atom | :o Listen up. Ive made a botnet to use my bots on. Its a very simple Ascii protocol, and a quite simple botnet. You simply login as your battle.net name (doesnt querie a pass) and enter the botnet chat. The server is fast and reliable, it doesnt have annoying stuff like anti-flooding but I can kick and ban the abusers. ;D Anyone interested in it? Ill post the specifications. | September 28, 2002, 5:47 PM |
MesiaH | OoOoOoO sounds neato leeto, can i see those specifications? ^^ | September 28, 2002, 11:20 PM |
Atom | nobody wants to use botnet? too bad... it now has all the stuff bnet has and more... | October 30, 2002, 4:46 PM |

Skywing |
nobody wants to use botnet? too bad... it now has all the stuff bnet has and more...
Well.. considering that there's already a widely accepted BotNet for which many people already have written clients for, I think you might have a difficult time convincing authors to use yours. Also; if it really supports all of the features of B.net (i.e. real game clients connecting to play games), then it'd be using the B.net protocol, and then you're just making a server emulator, which should already be compatible with existing bots. | November 1, 2002, 3:13 PM |
Atom | Skywing, the botnet i wrote, doesnt require somebody begging me for an account, anybody can use it not just other bot authors. Also when i said all the features of battle.net, i meant chatting features! i.e. early botnet didnt have emote and my users wanted it so i added it. I never said anything about Games connecting to it, it definitley doesnt use the battle.net protocol, its an easy ASCII protocol which developers should like. | November 1, 2002, 6:10 PM |

Plenty more than just bot developers use it. | November 1, 2002, 8:37 PM |

You do the math, considering this botnet was developed recently and not many people know about it. | November 3, 2002, 12:55 AM |
Skywing | It's not just about numbers. For example, if, say you say, only a few people know about your network, then the vast majority of those users must have been the same person. If you're planning to make a chat network, then you might as well use a standard protocol such as IRC. However, the purpose of a true "BotNet" is for bots to cooperate in accomplishing tasks, such as moderating a channel. | November 4, 2002, 3:09 PM |

Atom | No, youre silly. I said: "Also when i said all the features of battle.net, i meant chatting features!" Which means it had all the similair chatting features that battle.net has, not that it only has chatting features. | November 10, 2002, 4:43 PM |
Atom | I bow to you [vL], for my lack of a dedicated server has driven me to take down my botnet. People were complaining cuz of the downtime. You win. | November 17, 2002, 11:18 PM |
Zakath | Don't think of it as winning and losing...Sky's botnet is simply the established standard, and if you can properly construct a binary bot, you can certainly construct botnet packets! The protocol is very carefully layed out. Sky posted the spec as the very first post in this forum. | November 20, 2002, 3:47 PM |
