God bless Ronald Reagan

Moderator edit: Every first post here is supposed to be funny. Perhaps there'll be a monument in memory of him, perhaps something like this:

And perhaps an inscription?
The truth is straightforward: Virtually every significant problem facing the American people today can be traced back to the policies and people that came from the Reagan administration. It is a laundry list of ills, woes and disasters that has all of us, once again, staring apocalypse in the eye.

It is far better to have people think you're an idiot, than for you to open your mouth and prove it.

If you have no idea why Ronald Reagan is mourned by so much of the world, just be respectfully silent. The position of President of the United States is one of leadership, a position he willingly sought and executed with the greatest of competence. His love of freedom and belief in America gave him the conviction and drive to fight the USSR peacefully, through econmic means. That policy freed much of the world that had otherwise not been. While for decades people paid lip service to peace and disarmament, he sought both through peaceful bankruptcy, ending the stalemate.

Had he never been President, he was still a great man to his family, friends, and those he served as Governor of California. An average man should aspire to be one tenth his greatness. He put his convictions in order and adhered to them, of God, Country, and Family.

Gosu, don't be respectfully quiet if you are ignorant. Go read about it, maybe watch the news, and please(can't believe I'm saying this), go research before you say something stupid. I had the TV running in the background for about half an hour and I picked up that he was well respected, and did some great things. The people who are paying homage are doing so because they might have been alive when he was president, and appreciate all that he did.

I wasn't alive until the second Reagan administration, although I was jsut a little kid. You don't have to be one from that time period to understand what he accomplished as president. GoSu, perhaps you're right, why should anybody care when somebody dies. Heh, and since we don't care why should we have funerals, graveyards? The whole point of burying the dead is out of respect, yet you think people don't care when the average man dies?

by the way, I think that picture is of bad taste.

As long as land is available, it doesn't seem like a bad thing to me. If the land is more needed for something else, it can be used for that. Until then, people might as well play golf on it as anything else.

You can keep doing whatever the hell you wish with posts in forums you moderate, I'll do whatever the hell I wish with posts in forums I moderate. In general, I'll wish the topics to follow the rules for the forum.

Its the size that is neccessary for play. I mean sure we could only shoot on one hole and do it over and over, but then why couldn't skaters just jump one ramp over and over, and why cant football teams just run up a 10 yard stretch over and over?

If anybody in the clan needs help, and it's something I can do, I'll generally help them. If somebody outside the clan needs help, I'll make as much effort to help them. For the most part, anyway, I make exceptions for certain people both ways (ie, some people I help more willingly for whatever reason, and some people I try not to help because they annoy me). It's called being nice. :)

I suppose. Maybe. Topics here are supposed to be funny always. This generally makes it a requirement that the first post is funny. Posting a long string of arguments, and then following up with a small funny post isn't acceptable. On the other hand, posting a small funny post first, that post sparking a discussion with a long string of arguments is ok.

To make it clear: If you post a topic here with the subject of "Ronald Reagan", the only way I can see of that being on-topic for this forum is if the post makes fun of Ronald Reagan, or something he did.

If I had seen this topic before it ended up getting a lot of replies, and someone else's moderating, it would've simply gone in the trash can.

What I really don't like is defending posting off-topic things with the comment "I can do whatever the hell i wish". That's about as disrespectful to a moderator as you can get.

This isn't completely accurate. Some non-members can get away with more than other non-members. They get different biases - some people are believed to be annoying or ignorant. It takes less to get annoyed at them. People who have made sense in the past will get more slack in the future. More of "interpret in the best possible way".

It's natural that those non-members who become members are already in the group of "people who can get away with more".
