I'm just curious on what kind of computers everyone is using...

[vL] : What kind of computer are you running the BNLS server off of, or is it multiple computers?

-- Sorry if this topic has already been covered, i poked around but didn't see it.

My family used to own a Gateway 2000 486/66. It was a heavy, three foot full tower with a tape backup drive and a 5.5" floppy drive on it.. I first played Commander Keen on that machine oh so long ago. :) I think it's at my grandparents house now.

Apparently at my friend's work they have an an ancient 486 (I assume it's running DOS) that has an uptime of 18 years. Nobody's really sure what it does, but nobody really wants to turn it off just in case it's still doing its job :)

Smarty pants!

The computer I'm on now:
-233MHz Intel Pentium proccessor for blazing fast speed!
-32MB of SDRAM for all my computing needs!
-A whopping FOUR GIG HARDDRIVE so I'll never run out of space!
-And Windows 95 operating system, which never fails to bluescreen only when it counts the most.
*cough*

Computer at my other house:
-1.4Ghz (or something like that...)
-256MB RAM (not sure of the type, DDR?)
-80GB of harddrive space
-WindowsME

Planning on building a more up-to-date computer for gaming...

Attn Thing: Have you recieved your brand new laptop from E-Bay yet? I think we need pictures of it!

Let me start from the beginning:

Tandy 1000 EX with a 8088 4.77MHz processor and a whopping 256kb of memory. It had a DS/DD 5.25" drive (that's 360KB for you young'uns out there).

Some generic 386SX/16 with 4MB RAM, 127MB hard drive, and a 5.25/3.5 floppy combo. My brother installed DOS 6 on it, compressed the drive with DoubleSpace. When I was about 8 years old, I managed to delete the compressed volume file, along with everything on the computer.

Some other-person-built 486/DX2 66MHz, with 16MB of memory. I installed the 29-floppy-disk Windows 95 on here. It was the best OS until WinXP.

Gateway Pentium II/350MHz, originally with 96MB of RAM and a 10GB hard drive, 2x DVD-ROM and a 6/2/2 CD burner. Voodoo2 with 64MB VRAM. Came with Windows 98, ran Win2k on there for a while.

Built my own mega-tower (what I use right now) Pentium 4 1.8GHz, 1GB DDR/333, 2x 60GB hard drives and 1x120GB hard drive, a 40/24/24 CD burner and an 8x/8x/4x DVD-burner-32x/32x/24x-CD-burner-combo. Radeon 9700 128MB DDR. Started with Win2k, moved to XP Professional.

HP Pavilion (Laptop) (some old model). Athlon XP 1800+ running 500-1500MHz, 30GB hard drive, 512MB SDRAM. 15" screen, GeForce2Go 32MB shared video memory. Came with XP Home, upgraded to Pro.

That was junked out for my new laptop, another HP Pavilion, a zd7000. Pentium 4 running 2.66GHz, 60GB hard drive, 512MB DDR, mobile GeForce 4 64MB DDR (independent). 17" widescreen, with a numeric keypad. :) Came with Windows Media Center Edition, upgraded to Professional.
