KoRRuPT | I saw that and it surprised me when the colors A and B are the same! | May 28, 2004, 11:30 PM |
j0k3r | Ahhh I know, I saved it and opened it in paint, cut it and put them together, and punched a whole in the wall when I saw that it was the same... I still don't believe it. | May 28, 2004, 11:35 PM |
Raven | I just checked it as well. Definitely pretty interesting. :) | May 29, 2004, 1:51 AM |
Newby | It annoys the hell out of me that it's the same shade =P | May 29, 2004, 1:51 AM |
UserLoser. | WTF? | May 29, 2004, 1:53 AM |
CrAz3D | Eventhough I know it is the same, it still isn't the same! WTF!? | May 29, 2004, 2:03 AM |
Mitosis | I dont know, maybe when you put light on the dark squares their shade turns light. When light is on the light squares, they turn dark. Then when light and dark are in the shade, they turn the opposite? So then B is really a dark square that is turning a light shade? | May 29, 2004, 12:53 PM |

If you stare at the upperright corner of square B, you'll notice out of the corner of your eye that the other light squares down it's diagonal (in the path of the shadow) begin to appear darker. :) | May 29, 2004, 3:59 PM |

Spht | Why is the solarized copy still called "original"? | May 29, 2004, 11:31 PM |
Spht | I decided to try and recreate this illusion in a simpler form. Results: The shading of the white and black blocks surrounding the middle block is what confuses your eye. | May 29, 2004, 11:59 PM |
Adron | In the original, it's a black and a white square that are the same color though... | May 30, 2004, 5:14 PM |
Etheran | Color contrast.. it's why when you watch a dark movie during the day you can't see shit :( | May 30, 2004, 10:23 PM |
Yes. =) By changing the pattern of shading, I created a similar illusion making it seem as if two white blocks were different colors. | June 1, 2004, 5:02 PM |
CrAz3D | That's not as confusing as a black & a white block being the same color though. | June 1, 2004, 5:10 PM |
