A moron friend of mine lost his Warcraft III: RoC CD key and can't reinstall the game, but would like to. Anybody know where the key is stored and if it's encrypted?

Heh, I wrote a program to do it once but it also sent the key to me, so that's no good.

It's stored plaintext in memory while the game is running, you might be able to find it by searching for your key, find some data near it that's constant, then search for that data in his.

uh yeah i wouldnt trust any public files, its buried in there pretty well though

I've used the cd-key extractor here a few times without issues.

Hrm, Falcon. Since you brought up the idea, I suggested he reinstall it when the game would no longer connect to Battle.net. It's kinda useless and he lost his key.
