I am curious why Microsoft is mining newsgroup data. You can do some interesting searches with that site.

As for it going back to 2001, they must have started the logging in 2001, since my account has been around far longer then that and thats how far it goes back to.

You're misunderstanding the data. It comes from mining the posts on NNTP newsgroups, not from anything you registered on Microsoft.

And other than the graphical presentation, you can get the same info from DejaNews (now known as Google Groups) all the way back to 1994 or sometimes earlier.

Nah, I know what it means. It doesn't bother me too much, but I'm not to fond of it having an alias of me in the open that I didn't know about. :P
