It's developed out of necessity. Back in 1.09 (08 even) people cowd alot, and when you went through the red portal you didn't know what to expect, and typing "don't come it's not safe" when you have fanat extra strong cow king + minions around you is bound to get you killed, so they came up with a system that wasn't already in use. They decided on using numbers, because well, nobody presses a number by accident (as opposed to "a", "i", "o", etc), and having "not safe" shortened to "2", they thought why not be fully lazy and use "1" as "safe".

I would imagine it being 0 and 1, with 1 being true of the portal safe. And 0 being false. But B.net people are generally ignorant to all those matters and would still go with 2. I get the ignorant matter because this one time I was telling this guy why my Windforce is still faster than his Buriza even with it saying the "Very Fast Attack Speed" on each weapon. He just said you nerd and left after I described how they use frame logic with 25fps.
