University of Miami signee Willie Williams of Carol City reacts with surprise when he learned he had been arrested 10 times in little more than a year. Under the university's minimum infraction requirements for admission, Williams is presently listed as a "non qualifier" by failing to have at 12 arrests prior to enrollment. University officials are confident Williams will meet the necessary requirements. "There's the entire spring and summer yet to go," a university official said. A first-degree felony counts as two arrests in the university's requirements. A highly recruited linebacker, Williams was involved in three criminal activities--two charges for misdemeanor battery and a felony-- on a recent recruiting visit at the University of Florida. Former UM great and all-pro Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis will serve as Williams' infractions counselor to help the high school star meet the university requirements.
