I believe the reason most people use Apache is because it's multiplatform correct?

I had Apache, now I've got IIS.

IIS is so multiplatform, too!

IIS runs on:
Windows NT
Windows 2000
Windows 2003
Windows.NET
Windows Longhorn

The PWS version of IIS runs on:
Windows 95
Windows 98
Windows ME
Windows XP
as well as the previously mentioned platforms!

I'm beyond amazed. I wouldn't have imagined this - I would have thought IIS accounted for at least 40% of the web servers.

Where is this graph from?

Basicly, IIS runs on all NT-based OSes (2k = NT 5.1, XP = NT 5.2, etc).
PWS comes with windows OT and is (yes, believe it or not) forwards-compatible with NT!

Yes, Netcraft. I find it remarkable that Microsoft keeps beating the security drum and yet webhosts are steadily migrating away and away and away.

"We patched it again!" "We patched it again!" etc. doesn't exactly inspire confidence..

I use apache for PHP parsing on my home PC, works good, although when there's a problem I can never find anyone who can fix it...

How does that have anything to do with Apache?

You either haven't asked the right question, or you haven't asked the right person.

or you didn't bother to think about what the problem could be, since the question hasn' t been asked yet :P

Hah I fixed the problem somehow (I believe I posted that...). I talked to quite a few network specialists with many years experience but honestly nobody really cares to learn the software as long as it works.
