If I have a cd that I burned in either Nero or MusicMatch jukebox, and I need to get the Track Info (title, artist, etc) from it, is it possible? When the mp3's were burned onto the cd's, they had the ID3 (or whatever) tag filled out properly, and afaik it was burned onto the cd, I just don't know how to retrieve the info. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Check out CDDB; never used it, but apparantly the cd has some sort of id that is sent to a server, and the server sends back all the track info.

It's not a commercial cd, and isn't a copy/imitation of a commercial cd; they're compilations of songs, and there's a lot of them (otherwise I'd just listen to them and life would be great).

I always thought that mp3's were converted to a wav type format, if thats true, that would explain why you dont get your track info :P

but.. idk for sure, just heard it..

When the cd is being burnt, it says something like, "writing track info", which is why I thought about that..

The "writing track info" might just be writing the table of contents for the cd.

Check if you have any CD Text info on the cd?

Typically the CD Text info comes from the title information you give Nero when you record the tracks. If the title information was filled out correctly, and you enabled writing CD Text information, and your cd writer supports writing CD Text, and your cd reader supports reading CD Text, then maybe you'll be able to read it off the CD.

You could also look into CD Extra.

In the future I might simply recommend writing all of that information down on the CD itself, or yell at the person who made it for you until they comply.

It's much better to have it on the CD in a machine-readable form because then you can pick a track by name in the cd player...

I believe if you use wmp, you can search there database for the cd, and it will set all the info accordingly.

Did you do any checking of CD Text / CD Extra yet?

Honestly, I haven't had my chance.. I don't see my dad all that much, and trying to explain computer stuff over the phone is frustrating. I'll let you know when I do, though! :)
