Grok | Apphelp.dll is a delay-load DLL for SHLWAPI.DLL. SHLWAPI.DLL is version 6.0.2800.1106, and comes from IE6 install. However, Apphelp.dll is only provided with Windows XP. Microsoft's support site does not seem to contain any explanation or a work-around. Google offers hundreds of hits for people complaining, but too many to find a solution, if anyone ever did. Any ideas? | August 8, 2003, 1:13 PM |
Adron | Perhaps the functions in SHLWAPI.DLL that require Apphelp.dll are only supported on Windows XP? (purely theorizing, since you haven't given more exact details on what you are trying to do) My shlwapi.dll contains the string apphelp.dll. I don't have any apphelp.dll, but shlwapi.dll is still loaded by several application. So some of its functions are definitely supported even without having an apphelp.dll. | August 8, 2003, 3:53 PM |
Adron | Any more detail on what you're doing? (I'm curious!) | August 10, 2003, 10:37 AM |
Grok | Run depends.exe against SHLWAPI.DLL on Windows 2000 with IE6SP1 and you'll see the situation. I'm just wanting to know how to resolve the missing dependency. MPR.DLL is also missing an export from the version I have. | August 10, 2003, 3:52 PM |
