I got bored at the space age and quit. Never ran into any of these so-called bugs.

I came here to make a post about Spore asking people, who got it, what they thought about it. I found this post made by Ringo who sounds like he was high on sugar while typing his post.

GameSpot gave this so called "revolutionary game" 8/10. So... Is it worth getting?

yeah, I guess it depends if you like that kind of game or not I guess.
I persionaly would give it 9 out of 10 -- I have played it for more than 2 days, so it beats any other game ive played in the last 5 years lol (not alot)
I wouldn't call it "revolutionary", I would call it "about time" :)
idk why, I just love games where you observe some kind of AI building stuff, doing stuff and react to you're input. Altho, this doesn't really have much of an AI, but programming wise, it's a work of art. The general design is pretty much spot on, can't really falt it much in that department.
I'm only really interested in the space mode (altho, the cell mode was great fun)
But i'm supprised at the size of the space mode.
Theres got to be 50 - 100k star's, all with 1 - 7 planets, some with their own moons -- you can go to pretty much all of them.
it gives you alot to do, altho the missions/tasks can be over with in a day or 2, but depending what floats you're boat, you could play it for months on end.
I think you can only install it 2 times before it wont install any more -- some anti piracy crap, probly easy to get around tho.

For those who don't grasp what I mean by big (50-100k++ solar systems) check out these sreenys:
Zoomed out from 1 planet (woke up some monkey like critters) to the gallexy view, then zoomed back into another planet closer to the middle of the gallexy:

And my graphics card isnt even ment to be supported Oo
And yeah, all them star's you see, you can go to, and all of them have their own set of planets, most inhabbited by their own race's and food web!

So, is it like an online RTS type game where you build up your race, make a city, and take over other planets? Does it even have an online/multiplayer option? Explain? =|.

No. Download it, or buy it for half the retail price if you can. It's not worth getting. The only redeeming value of the game is the designing abilities. You can literally make anything for your creature/buildings.

The gameplay, however, is lacking severely. One run through the game and you won't see anything new or want to do anything.

It's offline, and it's a mix of genres.

For five years of development, they fucked up.

Yeah, it depends what floats you're boat I guess -- I persionaly have no interest in the creater side of things, I simply slapped any old thing to get to the space age.
The cell stage I found pretty fun, it kind of reminded me of the classic games from the 80's and 90's.
The creature stage wasn't really my cup of tea, I found that the most boring part.
The tribe stage just pure sucked I tought -- it was also over as fast as it started.
The civ stage I didn't really like much.
The space stage I think is pretty good, as I kind of expected it to be. It's alot larger than I orgianly thought it would be, how ever, space mode is massive, but there is little to do there.
It's lacking alot of options and in some case's, some tools.
You will probly come across 1000's of race's  in space, but all of them share only 5 or so attitudes. It's pretty much allie or war (from tribe stage up wards)

In space stage, once you have all the badges and unlocked all the tool's, you probly still have only expored less than 1% of space, but it's limited as to what you can do from then on.
There's still alot of unknown tool's I have yet to unlock tho.
Once you defeat the grox empire, all you have left to do is pretty much terraform planets to support all kinds of life, colonise space and war/trade/allie with other races you come across (in my case, I just war with everyone)

As playable games go, I guess it's not so great -- but as exploration and user creativeness go, it's pretty awsome.

Newby:
Have you defeated the grox and enterd/gained control of the center of tha gallexy yet? :P
I agree with what you're saying, it's not as "playable" as it could have been, but never the less,  find it to be fairly fun and ammusing, but I expect, that will dry up soon.

Sixen:
No :( it's a single player online game, iirc.
I think the gallexy and planet's are all populated with user content, downloaded from the net, but i'm really not sure on that one.
I was kind of hoping it would be mulltiplayer, if it were, it would make it much more playable.
Then again, if it was, the game would suffer alot of problems, because I forone, already knew what I was going to do if it were multiplayer.
Try war with everyone, and dominate the gallexy!

No. I saw no point and quit once I got to the space age. The only drive for me making progress in single-player games is storyline... but this has none. And I can't even carve any story into the game myself, like I can in something like Planescape: Torment.
