Hey,

Anyone else picking this up?  I definitely am...looks good, although almost a Crysis of MMO's for sure.  Still trying to get into the beta, signing up for all these contests and shit.
My guild and I are going to wreck some face!
Largescale pvp ftw.

You need a decent computer to run it.  Run it in XP.  If it's in Vista, you need to have a monster computer to run it in dx10.
It's absolutely BEAUTIFUL, but is the Crysis of MMO's.
I got into the closed beta :P  NDA!

they've fixed the client a lot.

I'm still on the fence, but I'm going to buy it n try it.  Just one more week till we find out!
It'll be tough to tell, but the games success or failure should be known by the end of May.

The only concern right now is how buggy the endgame content - sieging, 24man raids, and player building/crafting - may or may not be.  We know their Q&A team is good, and that they have a lot of internal testers, as well as a large dev staff...
We know they're efficient.

On the other hand, their record with Anarchy Online is not good.

My two cents are betting on success - but I said the same thing about Fury, and it flopped hard.  This game has at least 20-30 times the number of people in beta, and waiting to buy it.
May 11, 2008, 1:44 AM
warz
yeah, my guess to be honest is that conan flops, but not as quick as fury. conan wont be able to hold people away from wotlk, or warhammer. i say conan has no chance against those two. hell, even im going to go back to my rogue when wotlk comes out. ill be wow all the way. ill subscribe to conan for a month atleast, though.

Last night at a b-day party I spoke to a friend who is in the AoC beta. He told me that he thinks AoC will flop due to a significant amount of unresolved problems.

I am in the WAR beta and in its present form WAR is a failure. Why other developers can't live up to the Blizzard standards is a mystery. Maybe we are just going to be stuck with WoW (as the best mmo) until late 2010 when World of Diablo comes out. :)

Lets just play SC2 until then.

You only say that because you have never tried it.

As an experiment, bum 50 cents every day and see how easy it really is. If you feel like walking on the wild side try "twice that" (that would be a $1) and see if you can do it every day. Do this for a month and see if you have enough to pay for an MMO. You must bum $0.50 or $1 EVERY DAY and not just go and ask your friend for $15 or $30.

Probably not, but I also don't think $15 a month is very expensive. I personally use the prepaid option for World of Warcraft, I stop and start playing a lot so it's much more friendly on my wallet.

Whether or not you're paying $180 every year is not the point. I'm saying that a $180/year, while the same statistic as $15/month, seems like a lot more, and in my opinion, better puts the cost in perspective.

But if you really enjoy the game, that $180 is worth it. Then again like Invert said, it also depends on your financial situation.

Again, read the second part of my quote. WoW offers a prepaid option. You buy minutes when you want to play.
If you dont play a lot, this is a much cheaper option. I guarantee you I don't pay anywhere near $180 a year.

wtf does prepaid have to do with anything. it's not cheaper. you're still paying $15 for a month of prepaid time. (if youre talking about the cards). i pay monthly with my credit card, and i'll cancel it every other month. i pay when i want to pay. prepaid is more liek blowing it, if you ask me, because it's 2-3 months back to back, when im only paying for a month, then skipping a month, then paying for another whenever i want. WTF WARRIOR. L2BRAIN.

Beta, what he's saying is he doesn't pay for the time he doesn't use. What he doesn't seem to realize is that the rate is still the same: $180 for 525,600 minutes, whether they're used in a row or not. I don't think that price is justifiable for a video game, but then again, I place very little value in any game.

With price also comes usage, my method allows you to pay-as-you-use (as opposed to the method warz uses, which is recurring and one slip up and forget to hit "Cancel" and you've got a double charge, additionally my method makes a great gift :)). There's a huge difference in paying $15 a month and not even playing some months, as opposed to paying as you go and paying only what you play for.

I wasnt attacking the final cost, it's static. I was attacking your figure which with my method becomes invalidated, since it can potentially be $180 spread over more than a year -- which I'm certain is the case for me.

I think the problem is you're saying that a per year statistic is over the course of a single year, whereas I view it as an allotment of time, with no regard to whether or not its broken up. Meaning, you see it as a real "year" when I see it as a quantity of time.

I don't consider it grinding when it's part of a quest. The difference here is that the killing X amount of Y's will end up rewarding you at the completion of that task beyond the reward you would receive for just killing Y's without limit.

if you've got the very minimum, 2gb of ram, and a 512mb video card, and dont mind running it on lowest settings then yeah... it's worth it.

I don't consider it grinding when it's part of a quest. The difference here is that the killing X amount of Y's will end up rewarding you at the completion of that task beyond the reward you would receive for just killing Y's without limit.

kind of like drinking games...

Eh.. I only have a 8600GTS and that's only 256MB. I'm running on 1680x1050 resolution. I'm guessing that won't be good enough eh?

i play on Bloodspire as a PoM, I haven't logged in... in a bit.  took me 3 days of casual play to get to level 34.  pvp was phenominal but its a bit boring not have a clue who anyone is.

I hit 80 on my guardian, lots of fun on it.  I'm leveling a Bear Shaman on Zug now, playing with some friends.  I got kicked out of my 80 guild for refusing to farm pve resources after getting powerleveled haha.  I hate PvE.
Extremely easy to level on PvE..no interruptions - FFA PvP can still occur in the Border Kingdoms, just nowhere else.  too many dbags on Deathwisper/Tyranny.

I'm currently lvl 48. It's pretty fun so far, I wish they would fix alot of the bugs I've encountered, but I'm sure fixes will come.
