Grok | I recommend you do more reading about the P5B Deluxe. Just google you'll find many complaints about high temperatures. I almost bought the same board today and decided all these complaints couldn't be ignorant users. Decided to go with the ASUS P5W DH DELUXE INTEL 975X CHIPSET instead. $185 at www.mwave.com, appears to be a somewhat superior board (and better chipset for gaming) than the one you listed, all for $5 more. | July 11, 2007, 4:18 AM |
Grok | The Power Supply unit is one of the most important purchases you can make. The Case+PSU you linked has a complaint about the PSU blowing up. I highly recommend you purchase a case that you can use for many years, and separately purchase a power supply unit that is highly rated. A bad PSU can shorten the life of all your other components. Read power supply reviews at www.tomshardware.com and let the experts recommend a tested one. They include economical choices in their reviews, too. | July 11, 2007, 4:22 AM |

Trance | CPU is okay, but what happend to the mobo and RAM we talked about? Did it go over budget? | July 12, 2007, 8:48 AM |
crankycefx | I have the same cpu and a BFG 8600GTS. You won't be dissapointed. The CPU is amazing. You might want to look into an aftermarket heatsink to consider overclocking possibilities in the future. Check out pioneers sata burner, it's what I have, and very good. Why MSI? I have the Asus P5K mobo and love it. Are you an avid overclocker? The boards only complaint is the placement of the IDE controller, and purported "vdroop" of the vcore. Both rather inconsequential when you consider the benefits. | July 12, 2007, 3:28 PM |
inner. | I don't know how to overclock at all, so I probably won't be overclocking. http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817182044 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182016 Which PSU should I get? And cefx, I didn't go with the P5K because of the comments Grok said about it. Should I still go with it? Or is mine fine? | July 12, 2007, 5:25 PM |
crankycefx | That's your call. He was referring to the P5B Deluxe, not the P5K. He has a P5W. His model has a remote and lets you control a few things with their "digital home" technology, as well as the Wi-Fi AP (really sexy). The perk of the P5K is the Intel P35 chipset that will support newer processors yet to be released. It supports a lot of neat stuff. Maybe you'd want the P5K-E Deluxe or P5K Deluxe WiFi. | July 13, 2007, 1:48 AM |
