So I just recently put in Windows Ent. Server 2k3. -- I transfered all my files; (music, pictures, movies, etc.) but now a new problem has arose. I want to remove my previous install of Win2k yet every time I go to delete the system32 folder I get an error;

"Cannot delete Flash9b.ocx: Access is Denied"
Any solutions?

figure out which program is using flash9b.ocx, close that program, and delete the file.

Are you a moron? One of the moderator's needs to start deleting, on average, 100 posts per day by topaz in order to help keep the forums a better place.  :-\

None of that plz, over half of your total posts consist of rumors, gossip, or repeated stuff you heard at "xhacks" forums about Starcraft, WoW, or Warcraft III. The remaining portions are usually about illegal drugs and how bad the government is for banning them. Give me a break

Can this server be started on a safe mode?  Then you can try deleting the flash9b.ocx

He tried that after I mentioned it to him. That did not work. However, he solved the problem last night via another method -- I forgot what this method consisted of.

Hmm, I'll look into it.

Edit:  Looked, nothing to justify it.  Not even close.  Banning is a privilege I hold for administrators of the entire forum.  Typically this would include unchecked or severe harrassment of others, attacking the forum itself, or disregarding the forum moderators requests for them to change behavior.  What people post in individual forums I trust the moderators to take care of and let me know if they can't get someone to comply, then it's my time for fun, I mean, time to administrate.

It's not that topaz performs evil acts within the forums... it's that he acts like a complete moron practically all of the time, has a high tendency to respond to posts saying "LOL." or "lol." or something similar, and he just makes useless posts on an hourly basis that just annoy the hell out of people. While this is not worth a ban, it would be pretty cool if he didn't do that stuff.

PS. topaz, I've been told by a possibly unlikely source that you're a she? Is this true? I'd like to know for future reference.

You know, other than the fact that it was discussed in a certain topic and then confirmed

The person who told me is one that I don't rely on all too often. Btw, I do not troll the forums and look at every thread and every post there is. If I did, I would know about this. I don't want to waste my time looking around for any particular thread either.

It almost would of been more smart to back up any important documents and files, then formatted to a clean disk, then installed Win2k3 Server, and then copied your files over. Did you install Win2k3 right over Win2k, because I don't think you should be doing that, even if it works. (which it doesn't :P) Also, did you install Win2k3 on a different partition than what Win2k was on? If you did that, you can open up Computer Management and format that particular partition through Win2k3 easily. As well, you shouldn't be trying to get rid of Win2k by just deleting the system32 folder.

To inject a bit of useful advice into this thread...:

I would try renaming the file, rebooting, and deleting it.  You can typically rename an image file that is loaded, and then delete it after you have rebooted (guaranteeing that nothing has it loaded and will reload it).

In this instance, you might want to try and `regsvr32 -u flash9b.ocx' before trying the delete/rename trick as a COM-object/ActiveX-specific troubleshooting step to remove any registrations that might be allowing programs to locate and load the DLL.

Another alternative is to use Process Explorer to locate the process(es) responsible for for keeping the DLL in question open.

Good advice.  But if you also find that after renaming and rebooting the file has returned, it could be two processes that are trying to keep itself on your system.  What you should do then is secure the directory(ies) containing the two processes against execute permissions, then reboot and this time log on to another account that has delete permissions.  Then you'll be able to remove the offending processes.  In all the cases I've seen like this, these steps have been sufficient.  A really evil programmer would go even further to keep his code on your system.
