Bored lately, so I'm trying to think of if there's any type or programs/bots/hacks/etc to write for various games that people would actually buy and I could make money off of.  I was thinking some sort of pindlebot for D2 where it's so-called "clientless"...or maybe a dedicated war3 custom game host/channel operator bot...battlefield 2 stat bot (basically like a winbot for sc :P)...any ideas?

You should write a program that would take over the world and kill people with a click of a mouse. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find a buyer, just sell it to G. W. Bush, I'm almost positive he would pay a good amount for it.

You made your decision, he made his. It doesn't require a 9-6 to write a bot, so what's the deal? It isn't intended to be a substitute for a real career.  Who are you to judge what he does with his time?

Difference in philosophies.  I'm not decided on which one I prefer.  Either way, I don't see the point in flaming UserLoser.  He asked about battle.net specific programs, so "life advice" is somewhat off topic.  Skimming through this topic though, Maddox seems a lot more bitter than you.  Trying to start shit over something so stupid just seems loser-esque to me -- far more so than programming battle.net apps.  I think anyone who is capable of stringing a coherent sentence together realizes that programming for battle.net is probably* not going to make him rich.

*I did pretty well in D2, D2 LOD, where pretty well is much better than what I'd get in nearly any standard 'real world' programming job.

First off, I don't write things just for Battle.net, and have not completed any project at all, for money or not, in over a year.  Know the facts before you making accusations making you look like an idiot.  I don't even think I made anymore than $200 for Battle.net things, there were only a few minor projects I had worked on, nothing big.  You kids out there assume that's all I do since that's what you know me for on the Internet.  If you were local, you'd know that the school has had me do work for them along with the company I work for, also have done work for asomewhat known game.  Don't worry or care about what I do or ask, unless you're going to contribute.

Before I started playing WoW, I stole Skywings naming scheme and wrote Warcraft Enhancements for TFT 1.17(?i think) custom games. It wasn't really overboard in "hacks" as much as time saving things. The main features were...
For hacks:
Map hack, Name Spoofing.
For Enhancements:
Your Esc Key improved a few things, If you went to join a game and it was taking too long, Esc would cancel joining the game. If your Loading screen was taking forever, it would just bail you out of it without crashing your entire game.
I also wrote the recognition of in-game /commands to work with WCE in game.
Remembering the last game you were in, and joining the game last friend was in.
And if you were hosting the game...
You could drop anyone from it at anytime with in game command.

Before I left I was working on and IP Database after seeing Adron's SCReportLog's IP/Game/Name Log, I decided to make one as well, and would remember IP's and show up similar names. Though it would seem someone finally made this feature and is now a public hack which people use to categorize the person's country and ping times... as well as ban lists.

I would update this, but I don't really have the time and barely the desire to. I also have barely any knowledge of how Warden works which I thought they added into Warcraft3 also? If not some kind of new anti-hack measure. Couldn't say because I don't know. :p

Maybe if someone could prove they we're smart enough to update it, and would actually get it done, I would give them what I have.

Well, I don't really hack either. The only reason I had added the Maphack and Name spoofer at the time was because it was just that easy to do. The main reason I made it (or the first reason, anyways) was because I got sick of clicking to join a game and have it take 2 minutes to tell me... "No".
