I'm trying to make a simple bot and I want to be able to test it without getting banned or having to setup my own server emulator.  I was just wondering if anyone has a server emulator already up for the purpose of testing that supports warcraft 3?

You could try one of those PvPgn servers.

Do they not follow the protocol well?

I thought about using one of them but I was hoping for a server where they wouldn't mind me testing on.

Last time I checked, pvpgn followed the login protocol, but they added their own twist (for the worse) to things.

Yeah, they tell you invalid password when the account doesn't exist...like WTF.

At one point, I couldn't figure out why my 0x51 wasn't sending correctly. On the official BNCS, I would get IPBanned...the odd thing is, on PvPGN, it would send it over and over and get wierd replies. Some hours later, I realized I was sending 0x51 with the ID as 0x50...

The point is...crap, this is a useless post.

If you're post is useless, then why did you make it?

Anyways, I've only used PvPgn a few times, just to see what it was like. I remember using zDSBot on it without a problem. Maybe there are other private servers available?

Isn't that an oxymoron?  If they're private, they're not available to you as a member of the general public!

I'm perfectly sure that the PvPGN developers might be interested in protocol related bug reports, too.

It was just how they handled 0x50 errors; they're nicer so they don't IPBan you :D.

But yeah...there's nothing wrong with PvPGN as far as testing goes. If it doesn't seem right, you can always try on Asia or something (that's what I did).

It isn't too hard to implement such a simplistic part of the protocol, sorta makes me question the competence of the PVPGN developers...oh well..

I assumed you would understand what I meant, and I'm sure that you did. "Private servers" often times refers to servers that are unofficial to a server. PvPgn are "private" Battle.net servers because they are not official. I've also heard about "private" Runescape servers.

So, any unofficial servers are "private" in this case.

Why even bring up something like this?

Kp likes poking fun at people, nothing to get offended over generally.
