Does this scare anyone else?
It's been happening for a long time. I believe SBC first merged with Yahoo!. Later I heard that they bought AT&T. Recently they started working with Cingular as well. I woudln't doubt it if even more companies got involved and it someday became one large company with a very large amount of power. | February 1, 2006, 2:26 AM |
Of course, the US tries to keep the market open to competition, or so it says. There was a term for the breaking down of large companies into several smaller companies, but I forgot what it was. It's supposed to give smaller companies a chance to compete, and as we all know, competition drives prices, so the more competition there is, the better. At least, better for the consumer. | February 1, 2006, 4:17 PM |
The last time there was a communications monopoly it was promptly broken up by the US Department of Justice. What makes you think that wouldn't happen the next time around? | February 1, 2006, 6:00 PM |
