No, in fact in the First Persian Gulf War the US (and many other "civilized"/modern/western/whatever) countries aided Iraq, which was fighting Iran.

If you are talking about more than one war in the Gulf then the Iran - Iraq war was sure as hell was not the FIRST war.

The war between Iraq and Iran happened around 1980 and ended around 1988, if I remember right. The United States had no part in it. The war was about boarders and religion.

The 1st Gulf War that the United States was involved in was to help liberate Kuwait from Iraq.

This is so pointless, think of all the natural materials wasted on war.

Not only that but the USA spends 2$billion a year, destroying nukes, and spends 40$+billion to make them.

Seems like 2 billion dollars of wasted tax money.

1st gulf war that envolved the U.S was when iraq attacked kuwait for, supposedlly, slant drilling into iraq for oil.

The confusion might stem from how the USA and Israel in a joint venture delivered arms to Iran in order to make Hizbollah release hostages. Which later turned into the USA using some other intermediary to deliver arms to Iran and support terrorism in Nicaragua.
