Fr0z3N | I had to email the people at that email he provided, how pathetic. OMFG GUYS!@! Lets reward the people sent to jail to be punished with a LATTE STAND!! EDIT: Reply from Gov....
Dear Jared R: As reported by KOMO 4 News, the Department of Corrections is considering the creation of a program at McNeil Island Corrections Center to train offenders in the preparation of bakery products, lunches and espresso drinks. This training would be provided in collaboration with the Department's Correctional Industries program, which creates offender work programs that teach marketable skills, instill a work ethic, and serve to reduce the tax burden of corrections. Although details of the McNeil Island training program are still being developed, its purpose is not to provide lattes and other treats to prison inmates. In fact, the snacks, coffee drinks and other items that would be produced as part of the employment training would be sold only to McNeil Island Corrections Center staff, island residents, and visitors. We believe this program has the potential to create significant employment opportunities for offenders upon their release from prison. By doing so, it will advance the Department's goals of reducing recidivism and making the public safer. Sincerely, Department of Corrections Correspondence Unit
| November 16, 2005, 5:04 AM |
