Invert |
If anyone wants to play chess with me email me at dijame@gmail.com or IM me at sparky71989 on aim btw, I am very good :)
Where can we play chess? | July 28, 2005, 7:20 PM |
Rule | If there are several people here who play chess, I'd be interested in a tournament ;). ...We could use Yahoo, unless someone has another suggestion? | July 28, 2005, 8:26 PM |
R.a.B.B.i.T | We could make our own chess game? | July 28, 2005, 10:16 PM |
Invert | Rule: I don't like Yahoo. rabbit: we can also re-invent the wheel! | July 29, 2005, 3:14 AM |
R.a.B.B.i.T | Bah, I did that (with square legos) when I was 5. | July 29, 2005, 3:53 AM |
hismajesty | I'm in chess club. Sort of. | July 29, 2005, 4:12 AM |
Rule | Invert: Why don't you like yahoo? Can you suggest a better idea? | July 29, 2005, 4:29 AM |
Hitmen | Oooh, chess tournament!! I'm in. (I am bad. Really bad. But that's okay.) | July 29, 2005, 5:10 AM |
Quarantine | Chess is fun, even though I always lose just watching your strategies unfold. Great game to play during biology when theres a sub and you're bored :). Gogo pocket chess. | July 29, 2005, 5:14 AM |
dRAgoN | pogo.com? | July 29, 2005, 6:31 AM |
QwertyMonster | I'm in. Even though i'm bad :P | July 29, 2005, 10:48 AM |
LW-Falcon | I'll join in. | July 29, 2005, 8:01 PM |
Rule | Then it's settled, let's have a tournament! So far we have : Me Falcon[anti-yL] Qwertymonster Hitmen Dynobird (probably) Please confirm Rabbit? Warrior? Invert? Hismajesty? And there will probably be more... So now we need to decide on what service we're using. Whatever we do use, I suggest using a program that logs all moves made, (and perhaps has an option to replay the logs for us so we don't have to set it up ourselves). Maybe an applet for putting up a site with stats/game replays. Once we have enough people, I can organize the matches (will select opponents using a random number algorithm). | July 29, 2005, 11:08 PM |
LW-Falcon | I don't have a problem using yahoo. | July 30, 2005, 12:33 AM |
Invert | I'm in, I will be using yahoo | July 30, 2005, 1:12 AM |
HdxBmx27 | Im game, And Does Yahoo allow for spectators? If so I got fraps. ~-~(HDX)~-~ | July 30, 2005, 1:15 AM |
R.a.B.B.i.T | I'll use yahoo too, and yes, it allows spec. | July 30, 2005, 2:11 AM |
shout | I'm in. Btw I suck. | July 30, 2005, 3:19 AM |
hismajesty | Confirming. | July 30, 2005, 3:54 AM |
Topaz | IMMMM IN! AIM: Vesalius X Coordinate :-P | July 30, 2005, 5:16 AM |
Rule | Ok, yahoo it is. There are others I've talked to who will also be involved. In a day or so, I'll put up a tournament site on valhallalegends.com/rule, with a list of those involved, and the pairings for the first round. | July 30, 2005, 5:57 AM |
hismajesty | I'm not good, have an easy level. :) | July 30, 2005, 10:59 AM |
Dynobird | Wow I didn't know so many people here played chess! Of course I'm in! :) Yes, I like yahoo because that way we can see eachother in the game rooms and talk to eachother easier. We can enter an empty game room (there are always a few game rooms that have only like a few people in it) and play there. Other chess servers aren't as good at allowing users to talk to eachother and see eachother in the game room. | July 30, 2005, 5:31 PM |
KoRRuPT | I'll play. | July 31, 2005, 5:23 AM |
Dynobird | If it's possible, can you make the tournament in the afternoon? I have Drivers Ed from 9:30 am - 1 pm for the next two weeks. =( | August 1, 2005, 1:21 PM |
Rule | Sorry about the delay on the website. I've been really busy with work. I'll try to have it up soon. You won't need to worry about a "specific time" as Dynobird has suggested -- I will post the players, and the pairings for round 1, then it is up to those paired against one another to discuss a time they can play that is within a given timeframe. The time they decide on should be sent to me (via PM),and I'll make it available on the site incase anyone else wants to watch. Since there are probably some fairly large differences in skill level amongst us, I will then have a 'winners' and 'losers' bracket from the first round, where people will play against one another in their own bracket. That doesn't mean if you lose the first game you can't win the tournament :P. Eventually the two highest rated players will face off in the final. Also it will be possible to switch brackets. I'll explain this in more detail on the site later. | August 3, 2005, 5:00 PM |

Yahoo notifies you if someone is in checkmate. In this case, white could take black's queen with his bishop, thus removing the check.
