I don't know about girls on IRC, but AIM, yes

You don't find as many girls on IRC simply because it's a lot more involved than typing a name + password and chatting with people.

But they're there.

A fair number are knowledgeable in the art of computers. Most of the rest are almost no better than the girls on AIM and such.

I play guild wars with my girl friend, she actually plays a good bit more than I do.
