Myndfyr | Hey guys -- I wanted to know what anyone thought about a Serial-ATA hard drive vs. an Ultra-ATA 100 hard drive. I'm considering picking up a 300-gb drive -- the SATA drive is $30 more. Any thoughts? [edit]Sorry, had some of the info off. | July 22, 2005, 3:15 PM |
tA-Kane | SATA is 150MiB/sec. UATA/100 is 100MiB/sec. For an extra $30, it's not that bad in my opinion... but you could probably find better if you're willing to try. Just remember that SATA uses a different cable than UATA. Also, the latest SATA drives don't have dual power (eg, standard 4-pin power + SATA power), so if your power supply does not have a SATA power connection, you'll need to pick up an adapter. | July 24, 2005, 9:32 AM |
