Today, they're having free countries in 8 major countries (Canada, USA, France, England, Russia, Itally, etc.) with many, many major bands.  It's all about a cause to end world hunger and such.  As much as I think the whole cause is bogus and pointless, and world hunger won't end until people are given free condoms (har), it's still a good cause.  They have a petition on their site that has over 2 million signatures, and way more every hour.  It's a huge event for a great cause, I encourage everybody to sign it and watch it on TV if you aren't!

They chose Barie, Ontario as one of the locations.  I would have thought they would have gone with a town that had more people.. *shrug*

Its been on the news all week.

I was going to start one of these topics over at x86... but you beat me too it.

Yeah, I'm watching it.  Only thing I don't get is how I'm supposed to help if they don't want my money.  (All the ads I see say they don't want my money)

How am I helping by sitting on my couch & watching this?...

Its for 'awareness' not for money.

On average, the world population is going up, so it all works out.

And they are collecting signatures and (as somebody else said) creating awareness.  Throwing money at this problem won't solve it.

If a child is dying every 3 seconds & one is born every 10 how is that making the population go up?

Its every 4 seconds a child is born, but twins are sometimes born so therefore it does go up.

You guys suck. Everyone knows that every 2.1 seconds a baby pops out of a hole in Cuba, then they are shipped to all corners of the globe (has anyone ever thought about that statement?) with/in the cigars.

Pink Floyd was awesome, I Just wish those stupid announcers would have stopped talking about "how historic it is that Pink Floyd is performing together for the first time since..." Yes, I know Pink Floyd is back -- they're playing right now. Quit blathering over the music.

Haha, the Canadian announcers mentioned it, but they didn't make a big deal out of it.  They DID make a big deal out of Neil Young, though, because this is his first show since his near-fatal brain aneurism right before the Juno awards (Canadian music awards) a couple months ago in Winnipeg (my city :))

And hmm, I guess I'm the only one who doesn't care about Pink Floyd.  When they came on, I went and made supper :)

Have to say I dont usually watch these but from 1-3PM I listened on the radio(was in a car) and from 7 till the end I watched on TV. I was really impressed. Sissor Sisters were great. U2 wernt as greta as they could have been. Robbie Williams was a great crowd pleaser. The Who and Pink Flloyd were awsome. And who can forget Peter Kay hijacking the stage and being escorted by security off.

I guess though you may have all seen different versions.

I was there, it was terrible.  Even Stevie Wonder wasn't that good (surprising), although he did sing 2 good songs.  :-\

ROCKED.

Gogo: Paul McCartney! The Who! Pink Floyd!

Most of the others weren't as exciting as those 3. But they were a good warm-up (yes, many-hour one).
The UK show owned the others, naturally.
The Tokyo show was so lame.

Too bad Queen wasn't there. But they did get a cover played by others (don't remember which others).

I wonder whether Syd Barrett was in the audience. ;)

Edit: Did you notice Waters smiling? Did you get a glimpse of him hugging Gilmour at the end? OH YEAH!
