As I was driving today my music became more & more distorted :(.  I've decided it's finally time to get new speakers (since the ones I have are from Feb of 04).  I believe I need 2 6x9s & maybe 2 5x5s (I'm not sure on the back door dimensions).  Can anyone recommend some good not terribly expensive speakers?  I think I'm eventually going to get a new stereo too, but not for a while.

Pioneer 50 watts 4way - $100 per pair
Kenwood 60 watts 3way - $90 per pair

Also, would the wattage (heh, I said wattage) make much difference later on when I buy a new stereo?

Yes. If you buy to powerful of a stereo it will blow the speakers. If it is too weak it will sound bad.

You've come to the right palce! I placed 4th yesterday in a SPL competition with over 150 people. Anyways, what exact size are they, and what deck are you running, also watts mean nothing, you need to look at the RMS or WRMS  (same thing).

uhm, 6x8...found some decent Pioneer 3way speakers from BestBuy that I installed this evening.

Next on my list is a decent deck that might have a simple way for me to plug in my iPod without extra crap & so I don't have to use the FM transmitter anymore (sounds staticy @ high volumes)

I also need some cool artistic ideas to do to the instide of my truck.  I'm thinkin maybe blue LEDs where a tweeter speaker would go (I dont got tweeters since I don't have the nice sound package)
