Am watching CNN @ work & they say that if the plane had started to decend any quicker it would've been shot down..or if it didn't land at all for that matter.  I saw that a fighter jet fire four warning flares @/near the cessna too

Yea I was watching this on CNN in my geometry class before taking the test.

That's crazy. They'll get a warning, probably, as it was an accident.

They'll be scolded. They'll have to face some serious music from the FAA though, thats a seriuos accident and a serious violation.

You'd figure someone would have red-flagged their flight plan.

I'm thinking they didn't have one correctly filled out?  They weren't answering communications so maybe they just sorta flew away?

IIRC, their  flight plan was good but they were navigating by eye and got lost. It just so happened they ended up near the whitehouse.

My question is why didn't they respond to communication attempts?  That I think is what got them into the most trouble.

Any day an F-16 shoots flares at you just to get you're attention and you evacuate the Pentagon, White House, and Supreme Court buildings all by accident, you're going to feel pretty damn stupid.
