Deception | Long ago I created an account and then somehow forgot the password. I really wanted the account back so I decided to wait until it expired and re-create it after 90 days. However, for some strange reason the account has not expired after 91 days and 6 hours of being inactive. I know this because the account was in a WarCraft III Clan and I viewed it's "Last Online" time. How is this possible? Shouldn't the account have expired when it reached 90 days? Does Blizzard not expire Battle.net accounts when they reach 90 days? Does anyone know? I am wondering how Arta handles account expiration with TestBNCS. | March 7, 2005, 7:20 AM |
Maddox | Maybe they wipe accounts manually? | March 7, 2005, 8:12 AM |
Deception | That's what I was thinking. But the question is: When? The account I need to re-create is a very common name and I am afraid someone will get to it before me. | March 7, 2005, 9:36 AM |

QwertyMonster | Accounts get deleted every 3 months. Not 91 days? Or is 91 days 3 months :P Anyway, if it doesnt get deleted within 91 days, it will within the next week. Try make it every day, every hour or something? | March 7, 2005, 2:24 PM |
Arta | TestBNCS doesn't expire accounts automatically. One day I'll write a tool that administrators can run to delete old accounts, but it's not a priority. | March 7, 2005, 2:37 PM |
QwertyMonster | Did he ask about TestBNCS or Battle.net? :-\ Edit: Sorry i didnt see this
I am wondering how Arta handles account expiration with TestBNCS.
Sorry! | March 7, 2005, 4:37 PM |
Deception |
Did he ask about TestBNCS or Battle.net? :-\
I asked about Battle.net but I was curious how Arta did it on TestBNCS. As for what LoRd said, I did last night and it attemps to create the account every 5 minutes. It has now been inactive for 91 Days, 16 Hrs and still no luck at creating it. | March 7, 2005, 4:47 PM |

KkBlazekK | Every 5 minutes? I would do it every 30. | March 8, 2005, 2:21 AM |
kamakazie |
The account finally expired. 3 days and 9 hours late.
No one said it was an exact science. It would be wasteful for BNCS to constantly check whether or not accounts are expired. I wouldn't be surprised if this was only done on a weekly basis. | March 9, 2005, 4:55 PM |
QwertyMonster | Accounts are expired the exact time you created it. By time i mean like "10:00AM" or something. * I think * [me=QwertyMonster]thinks he is wrong :'( [/me] | March 9, 2005, 5:03 PM |
warz | You going to keep us wondering, or what? What was the account that was so important?! | March 9, 2005, 5:14 PM |
QwertyMonster | He waited 3 months just for something on Battle.net :-\ Ugh. This account name had better be good, if its not, ill put you in the chockey! :P ::) | March 9, 2005, 5:29 PM |
Networks | It was to gain cheiftan of a clan channel on a server. | March 9, 2005, 10:10 PM |

Soul Taker | If the account hasn't logged on for three months, wouldn't the clan have been auto-disbanded due to lack of chieftain activity? | March 9, 2005, 11:59 PM |
Deception | It was actually a Shaman account to a Clan that I have been trying to overthrow for a whle now. I used it along with a vulnerability I discovered to disband the Clan. I never even needed the Chieftain. I will not be more specific. | March 10, 2005, 12:04 AM |
KkBlazekK | That doesn't sound good. :-\ | March 10, 2005, 12:13 AM |
Mephisto | I believe Battle.net will *hold* on to accounts pending for expiration but it is possible to re-create the account, as well as logging in with the current password which will restore the account's expiration timer. I'm not sure how this works, but I seem to remember something like it long ago. | March 10, 2005, 8:01 PM |
