Does directsound make the wave line thingys that programs like soundwave and cooledit have or are they done manually? I'm not sure what they are called, but I need to do something like this.;

Suggest you do them yourself. You just draw a line graph of the sound data and that's it.

There may possibly be a library or open source tool that you could look at. But don't ask me for help, because I'm guessing in the dark... ;)
