An IP ban occurs when Battle.net automatically bans your IP address for doing something such as spamming.

Error message

If you receive an error that matches this one, then you are IP banned from Battle.net.

Template:BotText

Causes

You can be IP banned for 3 reasons:

  1. Flooding/Spamming out. Usually a 3-10 minute ban.
  2. Fast reconnections. Usually 2-10 minute ban.
  3. Invalid CD-Key! Up to 2 week ban. Note that dashes in the CD-Key ("-") will not cause this error because Stealthbot automatically removes these. Note that there is a bug in the BNCSutil.dll file that will cause new 26 character CD keys to return an "Invalid CD-Key!" error and will get you banned for two weeks. If you use one of these keys, make sure to upgrade to Build 469 or later (see Development Releases Topic at the bottom).

Solution

The only way to solve this error is to wait it out. You can play on another server (ex. USWest instead of USEast) while you wait it out.

Do not try to change your IP. Blizzard keeps track of banned IPs and accounts, so you could get yourself permanently banned on all servers.
